Mrs. Julia Avenell "Ruby" Burgess Reece, 78, of Greenville, loving wife of Paul B. Reece for 60 years, passed away February 25, 2009. Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Josie Mae Masters Burgess. Ruby worked as a weaver for American Spinning for twenty-five years and was a member of The Carpenter's House. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and the Atlanta Braves. In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, Lazette Jeanes (Ed), David Reece (Faye), Davis Reece (Nell), Donnie Reece, of the home, Loretta Davenport (Wayne), William "Billy" Reece (Judy); fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Alton Carl Reece, one great grandson Joshua Weaver, five sisters and three brothers. Memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at The Carpenter's House, with burial following at Graceland Cemetery, West. Visitation will be Friday, February 27 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The family will be at the residence.
