Rehoboth - Julia daSilva Lopes Teixeira, "Djudja",88, a cherished matriarch, and a beacon of warmth in the lives of many, passed away peacefully at her home in Rehoboth, MA, on Tuesday the 20th of January 2026. Born on the 13th of February 1937, in the Cape Verde Islands, affectionately known as Djudja by all who knew her, lived a life marked by kindness, selflessness, and friendliness.

Djudja was the beloved wife of the late Guilherme Mendes Teixeira and the treasured daughter of the late Roberto and Maria (daSilva) Lopes. Her life was a testament to love and dedication, evident in her role as the devoted mother of Roberto Teixeira, Napoleon A. Teixeira, Paulina L. Teixeira Figueira, and Odete Teixeira Lacourse. She also leaves behind a legacy through her siblings, the late Aguinaldo "Manana" Lopes and Autilia "Titi" Bento.

As a grandmother, Djudja's joy was multiplied through her grandchildren Robert, Sydney, Sheila, Maiyah, Tristan, and Wesley, and as a great-grandmother, she cherished every moment with Mason, Cassidy, Jordan, Alivia, Kendrick, and Isaiah. Julia's family was the centerpiece of her life, and her love for them knew no bounds.

For over 25 years, Djudja's diligent work as an inspector at B A Ballou Jewelry Manufacturer earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Her commitment to excellence and her approachable nature made her a valued member of the team. After moving from East Providence, Julia spent her final seven years in Rehoboth, where she was a dedicated parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church, contributing to the fabric of the community with her unwavering faith and spirit of service.

Djudja's interests were a reflection of her nurturing and creative soul. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as cooking, which allowed her to express her love through the flavors of her native Cape Verdean cuisine. Her hands were rarely still, as she was often found knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces for her loved ones. Julia also had a sharp mind, which she kept active with puzzles and crosswords, a testament to her love for challenges and learning.

To remember Djudja is to recall a woman who embodied the essence of kindness. Her selfless nature meant that she always put others before herself, and her friendly demeanor ensured that she was never without the company of friends and family. Julia's absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide them.

As we say goodbye to Julia " Djudja" daSilva Lopes Teixeira, we celebrate a life lived with grace, a heart given freely to others, and a legacy that will be cherished by generations. Her memory will be carried forward in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love she so generously gave. Julia's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
