Julia "Julie" Rose White, 91, passed away on November 4, 2025 at StoryPoint Senior Living in Granger, IN.
Julie was born in East Chicago, IN on May 14, 1934 to the late Edna and Earle Herrick.
After growing up in St. Joseph, MI, she attended Hope College in Holland, MI and graduated with a degree in English. She married Ventura S. Colapietro of Steubenville, OH. They had one daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy".
After her husband's early death from cancer, Julie moved to South Bend, IN where she taught school and was employed at The South Bend Clinic. She married Dennis White in 1977 and they lived in South Bend for many years before joining the community at StoryPoint. Julie was preceded in death by her husband Dennis in 2020. Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter Vivien and younger brother Robert. Julie is survived by her daughter Betsy, and Dennis's daughter in England, Suzanne, four grandchildren Daniel (Libby), Siobhan, Alex and Charlotte (Jamie), and four great grandchildren Sophia, Arthur, Finley and Ishbel, Julie's sister, Sandra (Robert), niece Cassandra (Tom) and two grandnieces Sierra (Miles) and Dahlia.
Later in life Julie received her master's degree in creative writing from Warren Wilson College. A writer of poetry and fiction, she had 5 published books of poetry and her works appeared in many well-known magazines and poetry journals. She also enjoyed the antiques business, and she and Dennis had a booth at South Bend Farmer's Market for many years. She was fond of making braided rugs and collecting vintage buttons. She enjoyed living near the St. Joseph River in South Bend and visiting the Lake Michigan shore in St. Joseph, MI.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
