Julian Cheslock, a kind-hearted man esteemed for his dedication to family, community, and country, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, in
Morgantown, WV. Born on April 6, 1926, in Masontown, PA, to the late Anthony Joseph Cheslock and Nellie Blach Cheslock, Julian's robust journey through life was marked by love, service, and unwavering integrity.
Julian answered his country's call by serving in the United States Navy during World War II, where he took pride in his role as Petty Officer, 3rd class. His commitment to hard work continued upon his return home, where he became a respected coal miner, then transitioned to pioneering the local cable television systems with Westover TV Cable. Julian eventually retired from Comcast after dedicating many years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Westover VFW #9916, a testament to his steadfast patriotism and fellowship.
Julian was steadfast in his support of local agriculture, serving as a board member for Monongalia County Farm Bureau; and the 42-year member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau, serving as a board member for over 20 years. He won the WV Strawberry Festival King, won Conservation Farm of the Year, and enjoyed supporting 4-H and FFA for many years.
Well-known for his warmth and generosity, Julian left behind a loving family. He is survived by his cherished wife of 78 years, Margaret Dorsey Cheslock; their daughter, Louise Henry (Roger) of Morgantown; and their sons, Dan Cheslock and Bryan Cheslock (Margie), also of Morgantown; and a daughter-in-law: Sharon Cheslock. Julian's legacy is further celebrated by his adored grandchildren: Julian Anthony "Tony" Cheslock (Sara), Elizabeth Henry Cardany (Scott), Bruce Cheslock (Kristina), Christina Henry Hunt, Jonathan R. Cheslock (Becca Hoffman), Stephanie Henry Ervin (Matthew), and Alexander B. Cheslock; and his nine great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure their grandfather's gentle guidance. Julian is also survived by a sister, Connie Powley of Westover, and a brother, Edward Cheslock of Fairmont, who will miss their brother's infectious warmth and laughter.
Julian was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Julian "Tiny" Cheslock; three sisters; and two brothers, leaving a legacy of cherished memories in their wake.
Those wishing to pay respects to Julian can join his loved ones during visitation at McCulla Funeral Home on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, April 29th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, and continuing on Wednesday, April 30th from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service begins, with Pastor John Neely officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, with full military honors conferred by Westover VFW #9916 and US Navy Military Honors.
