Viola Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCulla Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Viola Estelle Wilson, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in Sylvania, Ohio, at the age of 74. She was born on August 26, 1951, in Morgantown, West Virginia, to the late John Wilson Jr. and Willa Mae Wilson, and grew to become a cherished member of the community, touching lives with her kindness and dedication.

Viola is lovingly remembered by her sons, John Wilson and his wife Toni of Sylvania, Ohio, and Anthony Wilson of Morgantown; her adored grandchildren, Shaye, Hayley, Quinton, Kyah, Alexis, Nakeisha, Dontae, and Anthony, Jr.; and her five great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her later years. She will be held dear in the memories of her siblings, Ethel Schmid and her husband Mike, Georgia Wilson, Harvey Wilson, John Wilson III and his wife Rae Lynn and many nieces and nephews. Her light will be missed by all the lives she brightened.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two beloved grandchildren, Troy Dominique Wilson and Micah Wilson, as well as her brother, Jesse Pillers.

Viola's professional life was defined by her desire to serve others. She worked with love and care at Catholic Community Services in Morgantown and brought her attention to detail to the West Virginia Health Department as an accountant. Her passion for helping every child succeed led her to the Board of Education in Arizona, where she served as a teacher's aide for children with special needs. Even in retirement, she found joy and purpose in working at the Huntington Event Center and volunteering with various church activities.

Her deep faith was nurtured at Faith Community Church in Arizona, a place that was very dear to her heart. Beyond her professional and spiritual life, Viola had a zest for life that found her exploring the beauty of the desert with her sister, Peaches, and watching professional bull riding.

Family and friends are invited to gather in McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, WV on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 11 am until 1 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm with Pastor Jeremiah Bostic officiating. Following the service, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation service.
