It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Julie Bernal, 66, of Englewood, Colorado, on December 11, 2024, after a courageous four-year battle against renal cell carcinoma.
Julie was born on March 14, 1958, to Harry and Peggy Robertson in Denver, Colorado as the fourth of five siblings.
In 1980, Julie met her beloved husband of 42 years, Curt Bernal, at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where they had countless adventures, shared great meals, and started their lives together. Julie and Curt went on to have four daughters, Kelsey, Kara, Kaitlin, and Keely, and Julie devoted her life to being an incredible mother and leader of our family.
Julie loved spending time with her family, whether it was playing games, hiking, snowshoeing, cheering on the Broncos and Nuggets, baking, cooking, or watching a new movie. She worked as a dental hygienist for many years, where she formed meaningful connections with so many wonderful patients. She was a hard worker and enjoyed the countless genuine friendships she made throughout her career. She also valued the lifelong friendships she created and loved going on walks and coffee dates with those dear friends. Julie was and will continue to be a bright light in our lives and we will cherish the memories we hold of her.
Preceded in joining the Lord by her mother and father, Peggy and Harry Robertson.
Survived by her husband Curt Bernal; daughters Kelsey, Kara, Kaitlin, and Keely Bernal; sisters Diane Patterson, Chris Bailey, and Barb Cleveland; brother Stephen Robertson; sons-in-law Jacques Bristow and Steve Garrison; and she is survived by several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (2626 E 7th Ave Pkwy, Denver, CO) at 11:30 a.m. on January 10, 2025 with reception to follow.
