Julie Ann Gill, lovingly known as "Juliemom" and "MiMi," passed away unexpectedly at home on December 20, 2024, at the age of 65. A North Carolina native, Julie was a devoted mother, grandmother, fiancée, sister, and friend whose life revolved around her family and those she held dear. Julie will be remembered as a caring, tenacious, and resilient woman. No matter what challenges or setbacks came her way, she always found a way to persevere. Her capacity for unconditional love was one of her most remarkable qualities-she embraced people for who they are and loved them without reservation.
As a single Mom, Julie's three children were her entire world and everything she did, she did for them. From working tirelessly to create a supportive and nurturing environment, to striving for self-betterment, to being a source of unwavering love and encouragement, Julie was always their biggest cheerleader. As her children grew, their friends quickly came to know and love her as "Juliemom" for her warm and welcoming nature, and her extraordinary ability to make everyone feel like family. Later in life, Julie found her greatest joy in her role as "MiMi" to her two grandsons, Parker and Sebastian, who brought her immeasurable joy and purpose.
Julie's professional life reflected her diverse interests and talents. Over the years, she worked as a hairstylist, paralegal, small business owner, and office manager. However, her proudest achievement was the five years she spent running her own restaurant, Sally's Country Cuisine. Named in memory of her late mother, Sally's Country Cuisine featured a menu inspired by cherished family recipes and became a reflection of Julie's dedication to honoring her family's legacy.
Julie is survived by her devoted fiancée, Gary Gothard; loving daughters, Annie Mast (Mike) and Sallie Teal (Mike Burbridge); brother, Jonathan Gill; sister, Sally Gill (Lisa Poteat); sister-in-law, Cheryl Gill; nephews, David Gill (Nicole) and Cooper Poteat Gill; and her cherished grandsons, Parker and Sebastian. She also leaves behind countless extended family members and lifelong friends who loved her endlessly.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Sally Gill; her brother, David Gill; and her beloved son, Paul Joseph "JoJo" Teal, who courageously fought cancer and passed away just five weeks before her.
A celebration of Julie's life will be at 1:00PM Friday January 3, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Wilmington 411 Market St. The family will receive friends after the celebration at the church. Send all flowers to the Church between 8 am and 11am the day of service.
Julie's legacy is one of unconditional love, resilience, and a heart that made room for everyone. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched. We love you to the moon and back, MiMi, and we find comfort in knowing you are at peace in the loving embrace of our dear JoJo.
