Julie Gail Hartness West departed this life on May 27,2025. Gail was born June 24, 1963, to Edgar C. Hartness and Julie Lancaster Hartness. She grew up in Marietta and Kennesaw, enjoying the outdoors, nature, animals, playing sports, and riding horses. She attended Wheeler High School, the University of Georgia, and Kennesaw State. After finishing school, she entered the business world where she met and married Dan West, the love of her life. Mr. West preceded her in death. They had two children, Blake and Matthew, who were her pride and joy.
Gail was a figure of positivity in every life she touched. She had a love like no other, one that could make you feel like a kid again. She could always be counted on to be whatever you needed her to be, a voice of reason, a shoulder to cry on, a loving embrace, and sometimes the stubborn will to tell you the truth when you didn't want to hear it. She never knew a stranger and would talk to them about whatever was important to them, no matter how big or small. She was strong in her faith and was one of the best examples of walking with Jesus Christ. She enjoyed working in her garden and planting flowers, especially her roses she adored. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for anyone. She was a proud supporter of her Alma mater Georgia Bulldogs football team, as well as the Atlanta Braves. She had many talents, horseback riding, working with animals, cooking, and most of all motherhood. She exemplified this by being the greatest mother in the world to her two sons as well as treating all of their childhood friends as if they were her own. Her fingerprints can be found all around her community in the lives she touched, the advice she gave, the friends she made and the sons she raised.
Gail ls survived by her two sons, Blake and Matthew West, her brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Ann Hartness, brother Hal Hartness, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Phillip and Rhonda West, Niece Erin Medlyn and husband Drew, Nephew Russell Hartness and wife Lane, Niece Heather Gabbard and Nephew Josh Hartness, Nephew Chris and Heidi West, Nephew Tim and Donna West and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the Family requests donations to Miss Kitty's feline sanctuary or the charity of your choice.
