Julie Ann Thrasher Lenzi, 81, of Sharon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 after a 4 week illness with her 2 daughters by her side. Julie was blessed by having her beloved grandchildren, whom affectionally called her "Grandma JuJu" also be with her in her final days. Julie was able to spend the final hours of her life at the beautiful Good Samaritan Hospice Home in Wexford, PA, looking out at a beautiful garden with a statue of our Lord Savior Jesus Christ.
Julie was born on January 3rd, 1943 in Greenville PA to the late Dean Lloyd Thrasher and Armina Elizabeth (Stoyer Thrasher) Swift. Julie attended elementary school at a 1 room school house in Fredonia PA and graduated in 1960 from Fredonia-Delaware High School.
Julie began her employment career at Thiel College as an administrative assistant. Once Julie had children she was a stay at home mother to her 3 children. Julie returned to work in the late 70's, working at Kroger's grocery store, in their bakery, decorating cakes. Her cake decorating skills were extraordinary as were her artistic, crafting, and crocheting skills. Later in life, Julie worked in various retail management positions, retiring as the manager of Altmeyer's in 2005. After retirement Julie spent much of her free time with her grandchildren or her partner of 35 years James "Jim" Slemmer.
Julie, was a Christian, who had strong faith. She was an active woman until the month before she passed. Julie loved to walk daily along the river bank outside her apartment that she resided in over the past few years. She was fortunate to have a wonderful group of friends at her apartment complex whom she loved spending time with and whom thoughtfully cared for her on the day she fell ill until family could be contacted. She enjoyed doing yard work and gardening at her former homes in Hermitage. Julie loved to travel and would spend her later years traveling with family or with her partner, Jim. Julie was an avid reader, who would stay up all night to finish a book. Julie also looked forward to, with great happiness, her weekly luncheons with her dear friends, Carla, Doris, Pat, and Mary Jane. Julie was known by all who knew her for her incredible baking skills. Julie spent weeks prior to the Christmas holiday baking the most delicious Christmas cookies you could ever taste and giving them to friends and family.
Julie is survived by 2 daughters, Kelly Lenzi (Rick), Hermitage; Stephanie White, Gibsonia, PA, and a son Tony Lenzi, Hermitage; seven grandchildren, Devin and his wife Haylee, Ava Lenzi, Danny, Joey, and Mia White, and Alyssa and Anthony Lenzi. Julie is also survived by 2 siblings, Roy Thrasher, Winchester, Virginia and Ardell Evans, Lima, Ohio and her former sister in-law Carol Selnekovic (Bob). Her former partner of 35 years, Jim Slemmer. Julie had many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and they loved her. Julie had a close relationship with her former daughter in-law Kristina Lipak Lenzi whom visited her almost daily in the hospital during the time of her illness. In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her 2 siblings, Gary Thrasher and Susan (Thrasher) Eakin. Her brother in-law Fred Evans and sister in-law Carolyn Thrasher as well as a niece Debbie (Evans) Sutton and nephew Troy Thrasher. We can only imagine the reunion in heaven that occurred that day.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice House, 146 Neely School Rd, Wexford, PA 15090.
Per Julie's request there will not be a public service or burial. A private service for family and close friends will occur on Saturday, August 10th. Online condolences can be sent to the family on the Osborne-William Funeral Home and Cremation Services website www.osbornefuneralhome.com
