BESSEMER, Mich. – Julie F. (DeHut) Switzer, 43, of Bessemer, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at her home, with her family at her side.
Julie was born Nov. 5, 1980, in Ontonagon, a daughter of Joseph E. and Rosemary R. (Millard) DeHut. She attended Ontonagon High School and graduated in 1999. She continued her education at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, and graduated from Finlandia University in Hancock, earning a degree in psychology.
On March 22, 2002, Julie was united in marriage with Marc J. Switzer at the Ontonagon United Methodist Church.
She was a dedicated paraprofessional for the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District.
Julie is survived by her loving husband, Marc; two daughters, Makayla Switzer and Mackenzie (Brenden) Aspinwall; a son, Matthew Switzer; her parents, Joseph and Rosemary DeHut; two brothers, Ryan (Julie Ann) DeHut and Joseph J. DeHut (Emily); a sister, Jennifer DeHut; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Comelo and Sharon Switzer; her sister-in-law, Jessica (Donny) Haas; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, at noon, preceded by visitation at 11 a.m., at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 500 E. McLeod Ave., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Pamela Starr officiating.
A committal service and interment will take place at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer, in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Julie's famous quote was, "Love you more."
