Julienne "Julie" Rose Grotto, age 57, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 10th at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. She was supported by her loving family.

Julie was born in Beverly, daughter of James R. and Nancy R. (Tremblay) Grotto. She graduated from Beverly High School with the Class of 1986 and later pursued a COTA certification alongside a degree from the North Shore Community College. She used her degree to assist in occupational therapy and later applied those skills in assisted living. She expanded her career by serving as the Activities Director at Herrick House in Beverly, as well as serving as a Family Engagement Director for LCB Senior Living at Riverbend in Ipswich and Melrose Station in Melrose. She loved helping people with the care of their family members while at the same time enriching the lives of the elderly. She was especially proud of the teamwork that made a successful assisted living home thrive. Her colleagues became her friends, and her friends became her "second family".

Julie loved crafting of all sorts and always had a project in the works. She particularly enjoyed creating jewelry. She also loved her annual holiday tradition of seeing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert with her daughter and spending time with friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her beloved daughter Kayleigh Doonan and her husband Sean; her cherished brother James R. Grotto, Jr. and his wife Karen; and David Powers, her partner for many years. She will be sorely missed by the countless people whose lives she enriched.

In accordance with Julie's wishes, her funeral services will be private. A Celebration of Julie's Life will be held at a later date.
