Julius DeVon Benton

ulius DeVon Benton, 81 of Kissimmee, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on November 13th, 1943 to the late J.D. and Allie Fredonia (Taylor) Benton. In 1970 he moved from California to Kissimmee, Florida so that he could be closer to his father. DeVon married Mary R. (Viehman) in 1971 and they enjoyed 54 years of love and marriage together. He had a passion for horology working as a watchmaker for his family's jewelry shop, Benton's Jewelry. He was a Methodist by faith and a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Cloud, Florida. DeVon proudly served in the United States Air Force, was a member of the Makinson-Carson Post 10 American Legion, Kissimmee, a life member of the Kissimmee Elks Lodge, a life member of the Kissimmee Lions Club, a member of the J.C.'s, a member of the Florida State Watchmakers Association and even was Scout Master for years.
Surviving are his loving wife; Mary Benton of Kissimmee, Florida. Daughters; Andrea Beth (Donald) Pechin of Clermont, Florida and Christina (Matthew) Ash of Kissimmee, Florida. He was blessed with four grandchildren; Ella Bailey Pechin, Donald William Pechin IV, Mason Taylor Ash and Connor Joseph Ash.
DeVon was preceded in death by both of his parents; J.D. and Allie Benton.
The family of Julius DeVon Benton will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm in the Roger C. Thompson Memorial Chapel at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home. A service to celebrate the life of DeVon Benton will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church of St. Cloud. Pastor Cathy Thacker of the First United Methodist Church of St. Cloud will be officiating. The family wishes to invite family and friends to join for a meal after the service at Mary's residence 673 Adriane Park Circle Kissimmee, Florida 34744.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance for colon cancer research, the SPCA, or the Lions Club for eyeglass donations for those in need.
