Julius Bowen

Dr. Julius I. Bowen (age 95), born in Brooklyn, NY. March 7, 1930 to January 8, 2026. Physicist and Renaissance man. Graduate of Syracuse University and Catholic University, his career in applied physics spanned nearly 60 years in Bell labs, NOL, Raff Associates and the Applied Physics Lab of Johns Hopkins University. Surviving family members, daughters: Lisa Wright and Melanie Levit, spouse Shirley Levin, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. First wife: Jeanne Bowen (died 2008) and father to Steven Bowen (died 2012).
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 11, 1 p.m. at Judean Memorial Gardens Chapel, 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd., Olney, MD 20832. Shiva will be observed at Maplewood Park Place on Sunday 3 to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. with services at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice or the American Heart Association.
