Julius Cooper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - New Haven on Oct. 21, 2022.
Julius P. Cooper was born to the Late Lucious (Doc) and Late Harriet Cooper on December 25, 1929, in Hemingway, SC. Julius attended Chavis Elementary School and went on to Chavis High School. After high school, Julius enrolled into the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, where he was an Ammunition Corporal. After completing the Armed Forces, he moved to New Haven, CT where he began working at Winchester Rifle Company. He later returned to South Carolina where he met and married Helen Brown. They moved to New Haven, CT where three children were born from this union. Julius accepted the Lord at an early age: he joined Varick Memorial AME Zion Church and was a faithful member for many years. He worked at Armstrong Rubber Company from 1956 to 1982, where he retired from. After retiring, he worked as a security guard to pass his time.
Julius, also known as Uncle Pete, loved spending time with his family and truly lived life to the fullest through the simple pleasures of singing the gospel, dancing, and going to the casino. He touched so many lives and will truly be missed.
Julius Cooper leaves to cherish his memories sons, Danny Cooper (Robin Estes Cooper), Peter McClammy, and Brian Thomas (Annette Thomas); daughters, Helena Cooper, Sharon Brown, and Sheree Amankwah (Pascal Amankwah); special friend, Elsie Hagan. He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Julius was predeceased by parents, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
