Julius Frish Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Audubon Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Slidell on Dec. 10, 2024.
Julius "Jules" Frish passed away at his home on December 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on October 23, 1938, in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the cherished only son among seven children and was affectionately known as "Buzz" within his Omaha family. He was predeceased by his parents, Agnes Pospishil Frish and Julius Frish Sr., as well as his sisters, Janet Franks, Beverly Bachman, Delores Regner, Doris Eymann, Shirley Ploughman, and JoAnn Knobelauch.
Jules graduated from North High School in 1956 and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1961. From 1963 - 1965 he served honorably in the United States Army stationed in Seoul, Korea. He often reminisced about those years as a time filled with adventure and travel. He completed his education at Tulane University, earning an MBA in 1968. While at Tulane, he met Judy, the love of his life, and they married in 1968. They were delighted to welcome two daughters, Lisa in 1971 and Debbie in 1972.
Jules' academic achievements lead to a strong foundation for his successful career which began at Allied Chemical in Buffalo, NY and continued at Kaiser Aluminum in Chalmette, LA and Lockheed Martin in New Orleans, LA, where he worked in the space program until he retired in 1997.
An avid sports enthusiast, Jules was a dedicated fan of the Saints, Tulane, and the St. Louis Cardinals. His competitive spirit shone through in his love of bowling and golf and his keen analytical skills made him an excellent racehorse handicapper. Jules also nurtured a love for gardening, puzzles, computer games, nature walks, and birding. He and Judy loved to travel and together they explored the vast beauty of many National Parks and ventured to many countries worldwide. Their annual family trips to Pensacola Beach were a treasured tradition, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Jules was a kind, gentle, unassuming person whose intelligence, humor, and basic goodness was apparent to all who knew him. He was a devoted and loving husband, a wonderful Dad to his children, and a beloved Papa to his grandchildren.
Jules is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy; his children, Lisa Myrtue (Mark) and Debbie Murphy (Greg); and by his four grandchildren, Matthew Myrtue, Olivia Myrtue, Kevin Julius Murphy, and Josie Murphy.
A family gathering to celebrate Jules' life will be held in the near future. The family invites you to share your thoughts and fond memories online at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com.
