June LaVerne Bjerke

A celebration of life for June Bjerke, 98, of Marshall, MN will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall, MN from 10:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. Private family burial will take place at the Marshall City Cemetery Saturday, October 14, 2023.   June LaVerne Porthouse Bjerke was born on January 5, 1925, to John & Lillie Porthouse in Chicago, IL. After graduating from High School June was employed by First National Bank in Chicago.  On June 9, 1945, June was united in marriage to Glenn A. Bjerke in Sanford, FL.  After Glenn’s Naval service the couple moved to Marshall and were blessed with 3 children.  June worked alongside Glenn as CFO of Bjerke Electric, Inc.  Upon retirement the couple moved to Florida.  Upon Glenn’s passing in 1988 June moved back to Marshall.  In 2019 June moved to the Minnesota Masonic Home and Care Center in Bloomington.

June was a 75 year Member of the Order of Eastern Star, and longtime member of the VFW and Legion Auxiliary.

June passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, at the Minnesota Masonic Home and Care Center.  June is survived by sons Gary (Pat) Bjerke, Tom (Marie) Bjerke, 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren.  June was preceded in death by her Parents, husband Glenn and daughter Cheryl.
