June Elizabeth Parker Cofer, 78, of Smithfield passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Wilson Parker and Cora Lee Byrum Parker. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Thomas Cofer, Jr. and a brother, Donald Wilson Parker. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Cofer Oliver (J F) and Amy Cofer Epps (Lewis); grandchildren, Jordan (Amber), Brittany, and Lindsay (Jordan); great grandchildren, Emma June and James; sisters, Brenda Blankenship and Marilyn Francis Chowing; and a devoted family friend Ron Andrews.
Mrs. Cofer loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She retired from Smithfield Foods and also sold Avon for 35 years. She loved Elvis and enjoyed watching her soap operas. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed feeding them all. She was known for her witty personality, a trait she passed on to her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, 10 a.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield, with burial to follow in Mill Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Isle of Wight Human Society.
