Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. June Alexa Stevens Durden, 86, of Grovetown, Georgia, who died on October 24th, 2025, at her residence.
She was born in Jefferson County, Georgia on June 3rd, 1939, and graduated from Wadley High School in 1957. She received a Bachelor of Science in Medical Records from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville in 1961. Her career in medical records spanned more than two decades at various hospitals in the Augusta area, with retirement from St. Joseph Hospital in 2004.
Mrs. Durden lived in Washington, Georgia for over 25 years and participated in local organizations including First United Methodist Church and Girl Scouts. Upon relocating to Grovetown, she joined Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church in Augusta. She enjoyed yard work, maintaining flower gardens, and keeping an impressive doll collection.
Mrs. Durden was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Dorothy Stevens, her brother William Stevens, and her son Donald Durden Jr. Survivors include her daughter Kimberly Durden Tubbs, grandson Donald Durden III, and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, November 1, 2025, in the Moxley Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Wadley City Cemetery in Wadley, Georgia. Pallbearers will be Don Durden, III, Chris Oglesby, Adam Oglesby, Jeff Beecher, Buddy Smith, John Rheney, and Peyton Rheney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moxley United Methodist Church at 1095 Charles Smith Rd, Wadley, GA 30477.
