Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Hubert Cheeks, age 82, of Bostic Mill Road Wadley, who died Friday, November 7, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in the Louisville Methodist Church with Joe Cheeks, and Mitchell McGraw officiating. Pallbearers will be Brandon Josey, Rick Schultz, Nathan Rogers, Jacob Sutherland, Stone Logan and Dennis Cheeks. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Georgia Trappers Association. Mr. Cheeks will be laid to rest in the family plot in Davisboro City Cemetery.
Hubert was born March 9, 1943, in the family home in Davisboro. He was a son of the late Eather Cheeks and Tiny Russian Cheeks. He retired from the Georgia Department of transportation as Highway Maintenance Foreman. For more than 50 years, Hubert was a Beaver Trapper and was also known as the Goat Doctor. He was a longtime member of the Georgia Trappers Association and the Popeyes Coffee Club. Hubert was a jack of all trades. He was an avid gardener, who enjoyed sharing his vegetables, zinnias, and sunflowers with the community he loved, family, and friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having fish fries. His greatest pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 55 years Rita P. Cheeks, sister, Maggie Inez Brown, brothers, John Thomas Cheeks, and Eugene Cheeks. He is survived by wife, Ann Cheeks, of Wadley, daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel & Chuck Stevens, of Bartow, and Brenda & Pete Sutherland of Swainsboro, step son, Lee Ethridge of Wadley, granddaughters, Susan Josey (Brandon), Kim Schultz (Rick), Shelby Rogers (Nathan), Kayla Vaughn (Jay) and Kelly Logan (Stone), 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
The Cheeks family will be at the residence, 4278 Bostic Mill Road, Wadley, and will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the Funeral Home.
Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
