June Irene (Young) Gerber, 86, of
Sellersville, PA, died January 20, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born June 1, 1939 in Tremont, Schuylkill County, PA, she was the oldest child of the late Howard Andrew and Eva Mae (Ferrebee) Young. She graduated from Tremont High School in 1956.
On March 23, 1957, she married the love of her life, Joseph "Joe" George Gerber, son of the late George Edward and Annie Rebecca (Brown) Gerber at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, PA. After several years, they moved from Schuylkill County to Bucks County, and finally settled in Hatfield, Montgomery County where they lived for 35 years. From there they moved to Quakertown, then Schnecksville, and then settled in Sellersville where they've lived since.
June held many and varied jobs over the years, but her most important job was as a wife and mother. She always put her family first and was there to bandage a scraped knee or wipe a fevered brow. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and her mashed potatoes were always requested at family dinners. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. As well as raising their three children, June and Joe opened their home to many foster children over the years, from infants to teenagers.
After retiring, June and Joe spent time traveling in their RV, making new friends along the way, and visiting with old friends when they spent several months each winter traveling around Florida. June loved her houseplants and at one time had close to one hundred. She passed her love of plants on to some of her grandchildren who were happy to exchange plants with her.
June enjoyed sharing her baked goods with friends and family and anyone who visited her and Joe in their home. She enjoyed counted cross stitch until her eyesight got too bad, and then picked up knitting again. She donated many knitted blankets to di erent charities. Over the years June was involved in her church, teaching Sunday school and Bible school and sitting on the church council for several years.
