June Payne Hamby, aged 84, of Dacula, GA, departed peacefully from this world on September 15, 2023, with the comforting presence of her family at her side.
June was a cherished member of Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. Beyond her spiritual devotion, she displayed a vibrant passion for life. An ardent golfer and tennis enthusiast, she reveled in the joy of sports. Her artistic soul found expression in the realm of photography, and she adorned life with her remarkable talents.
Preceding her in the journey to the great beyond was her beloved husband of 59 years, Herbert O. Hamby, Jr. June leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever live on in the hearts of her survivors. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Bryan, and son-in-law, Scott, both of Dacula; her son, David Hamby, and daughter-in-law, Michelle, also of Dacula. She is also survived by her brothers: Tom Payne and his wife, Jan, of Gray, Georgia, and Brent Measley and his wife, Debbie, of New Jersey.
June's nurturing spirit touched the lives of her grandchildren: Kristin Welshhans and her husband, Bryan, Lauren Bryan, Davis Bryan, Jessica Hamby, and Miles Hamby. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Ava Welshhans and Hadley Welshhans, who will forever carry forward the light of her legacy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 17th, 2023, at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, located at 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA.
A heartfelt funeral service will be held in her honor at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 18th, 2023, at Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church, with her remains being placed in state at 1:30 PM. The funeral will be followed by her interment at Gwinnett Memorial Park, 925 Crogan St., Lawrenceville, GA, 30046.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to either the Wesley Sunday School Class or Grace Arbor at Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church, in her memory.

I knew June for 42 years. June was the kindest, most good-hearted and gracious woman I have ever met. So welcoming and caring. Always had a smile on her face and always glad to see you. My wife had the pleasure of knowing June for the past 32 years. Time was, we would take June and Herb out to a restaurant for their birthdays. Amanda and I always tried to find a special dinner spot. Something out of the ordinary. We never told them where we going until we got there. And when the cat was out of the bag, her excitement was so special. Like the Dinner Train. So many memories.

Rest in peace, June Hamby. You've given me and Amanda great memories for a lifetime. Deepest sympathies to David and Judy, and their families.
