June Catherine Baggitt Higgins
February 8, 1935 – November 19, 2025
June Catherine Baggitt Higgins, a woman of deep faith, quiet strength, and boundless love for her family, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born on February 8, 1935, June was the beloved daughter of William and Angela (Mount) Baggitt. Raised in Freehold, New Jersey, first on Throckmorton Street and then on Main Street, she held dear the Borough she called home, the bond she shared with her siblings, "the pond" where they played, and the countless memories that made Freehold such a special part of her life. She and her siblings attended St. Rose of Lima elementary school. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Trenton with the Class of 1953 and felt an early call to religious life. On January 1, 1954, she entered the convent and was invested in the order of Sisters of St. Francis, where she also pursued a teaching degree at Villanova University. During those years she taught with devotion at Saint Ignatius School in Yardley, Pennsylvania. After fifteen years of consecrated service, June discerned a new path and left the convent on June 13, 1969.
That August she began what would become a distinguished thirty-plus-year career as a teacher in the Howell Public School System, touching countless young lives with her patience, clarity, and genuine care.
In June 1974, June married Lawrence "Larry" Higgins, beginning a joyful chapter filled with love and companionship. Together, they cherished their blended family, which grew to include Larry's sons, John and Patrick Higgins, as well as their children. June also took great joy in her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews, all of whom brought her endless delight.
A lifelong and faithful member of the Catholic community of St. Martha in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, June found great joy and spiritual nourishment in her parish family.
June was predeceased by her parents; Mr. & Mrs. William Baggitt, her husband Larry; and all her dear siblings; Ann Baggitt, Rosemary Smock, her brothers William Baggitt, Robert Baggitt, and Jack Baggitt.
Throughout her life, June's passions remained beautifully simple yet profound: her Catholic Faith, which sustained her in every season; her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally; and her cherished canine companions-Champ, Molly, and Angel-who filled her days with wagging tails, wet noses, and the purest kind of joy. Whether walking her beloved dogs, gathered in prayer, or surrounded by loved ones, June lived with grace, kindness, and an unshakable sense of purpose.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend whose gentle spirit brightened every room-and every heart-she entered.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
