June Ida McDermott (Leach) July 27, 1960-January 10, 2025 of Bloomfield, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 10th, at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Western NY, growing up in Canandaigua and living most of her adult life in Buffalo and Rochester.
June was a very loving and giving individual. She lived a very simple life and even though she was unable to help someone out financially, she would always freely give her time to help a friend or loved one. For example, this past December she helped her daughter's mother-in-law (who was also June's friend) clean her house, wrap all of her Christmas gifts, take a shower and wash her hair, because her friend was just discharged from the hospital. She cared deeply and did good, kind deeds with no need of recognition.
To know June was to love her. There were no strangers in her life, when you met June she became an instant friend. She found joy volunteering at "Heartfelt Designs," the store her daughter-in-law owns. She was the heartbeat of the place and it became her passion. She was loved by the vendors and all the guests who shopped at the store. She was a people person and it showed.
As a testament to June's character, her most treasured gifts were those that the vendors at "Heartfelt Designs" hand-created for her, and her grandkid's artwork which was displayed proudly throughout the home she shared with her son and his family.
June had a terrific sense of humor, saying and doing silly things to make people laugh, and the greatest feature of her humor was her ability to also laugh at herself. She was a diehard Bills fan for 52 years. "Let's go Buffalo!" She had a love of butterflies since she was a little girl. She had a fondness towards Disney's Goofy, Peanuts' Woodstock, and pigs because they reminded her of her mother and of her sister, Mary.
June was a very spiritual person and read her bible daily. She kept a prayer log and every day quoted scripture on social media. She was aware of her short-comings and sought the comfort of scripture quotes and her bible, constantly working on herself to become a better person. She loved her God and He gave her peace.
She is survived by her beloved children: Christina Tarricone (Fiancé Christopher), Cyndi (Paul) Pieramico, Bill (Rachel) McDermott; the love of her life, her loyal Chihuahua Elvis; her beautiful grandchildren Destanie, Mikayla, Theodore, Jason, Billy, Jeremy, Ian, Miles, Cecelia, Megan, Emma, Liam and Willamena; her great-grandchildren Bella, Karla, Rosa, Leo and Avianna; her sisters, Debbie (Bob) McCauley, Sr. Patty McDermott SSJ, Annie (Vince) Medici; brother-in-law Red Schulmerich; honorary sisters Sr. Pat Travoto SSJ and Bean Olmsted; her companion Richie Siena and many nieces, nephews and friends including her "Frister" group.
June was predeceased by her Father, William McDermott, her Mother, Elvira (Elly) McDermott, brother, Michael McDermott, sister and best friend, Mary (née McDermott) Schulmerich and nephew, Bernie Schulmerich Jr. June will be missed by too many people to mention. The one thing that gives us peace is that she is reunited with her loved ones that went before her.
Services will be Saturday January 25th, 2025 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Fellowship, 7466 US-20, Bloomfield, NY14469 Reception and Celebration of Life will be immediately following at East Bloomfield Fire Department Community room: 105 Main Street East Bloomfield, NY 14469
