June "Dawn" Bamford Kennison, 91, passed away on October 18, 2025. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Harold, her parents, and her sister Faye Silverstein (David). Dawn was born June 19, 1934, to Pauline Ellen (Bell) and George E. Bamford. According to the story, born in June "at the crack of Dawn". And only 15 months after, Sister Faye was born. Father George E. passed away at the young age of 29 leaving a wife and two young girls. Pauline raised Faye and Dawn with the help of their grandfather, George T. Bamford, who they called Daddy Bamford. Daddy Bamford was the Minister of the Primitive Methodist Church in the small borough of Laurel Run, PA where Dawn was born and lived. Dawn's mother was a teacher at the school in town. The stereotype about the mischievous nature of Preachers 'and Teachers' kids held true for Dawn. Dawn was always in some kind of trouble in her youth, from being electrocuted to being expelled a few days in High School for smoking. Dawn loved school, not for the learning, but the playing. She was an avid athlete in Field Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball and Baton Twirling, to name a few. This athletic skill carried over into her adult life and one year she won the 9-hole Brickyard Women's Championship. Dawn was also in a bowling league and a tennis group. She built lasting friendships from these interests. She met Harold "Hal" Kennison in Philadelphia, PA while he was on leave from the Navy. At the time, Dawn was working in Philadelphia for Pennsylvania Bell as an operator. They married in 1955. They welcomed 3 children into the Kennison household over the next 9 years. Daughter Ellen Faye and sons Jeffrey Harold and George Bamford. Their father was the "Milkman"! Hal worked for Sealtest in Philadelphia delivering milk. Dawn & Hal moved their family to Indiana in 1965 for a job opportunity. Dawn was a housewife and loving mother. She attended every sporting event and activity for her children, and she was always home to greet them after school. She cared for her family in so many ways. Cooking not so much. The family moved to Speedway, IN in 1971 where Dawn lived until 2017. She had wonderful neighbors and lifelong friends from Speedway. Dawn and Hal loved living in Speedway. They had fun together, golfing, playing bridge, dancing at the Legion Post 500 and gambling at Casinos. Eventually, Dawn got a paying job at a bank, which led to her career at Indiana Members Credit Union. She started as a teller and moved her way up to a loan officer. She retired in 2000. She will be missed greatly by her family. Children: Ellen Hibschman (Jeff – favorite Son-In-Law), Jeffrey Kennison (Jill), George Kennison (Saundra) Grandchildren: Nathan Hibschman (Beth), Evan Hibschman (Dara), Reid Kennison (Brooke), Tyler Kennison (McKenzie), Dean Kennison (Samantha), Lyndsey Culp (Lucas) and Eric Kennison (Abbie). Great-Grandchildren: Peyton, Levi, June, Noah, Wyatt and Landon. In Lieu of a service her children request you contact them in the near future to share a cherished memory of their mom. Thank you, Dawn for being on this earth for 91 years! Thank you to the awesome staff of Traditions at Reagan Park for taking loving care of Dawn and to Brighton Hospice in her final days. I´m a lifelong friend of Dawn´s youngest son, George. We were classmates & teammates for years. The thing l remember most about Dawn is that she really enjoyed an ornery joke. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
