June Ann Larson, 87, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at Door County Memorial Hospital on December 26, 2025. She was born June 16, 1938, in Sturgeon Bay to Lincoln and Matilda (Peschel) Larson. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1956, from the U. S. School of Music in 1960, the Minnesota School of Christian Education in 1965 and then from The Institute of Children's Literature in 1978.
June worked at Evergreen Nursery Company for 25 years, first as secretary/receptionist and then as sales supervisor. She was also employed at Sunset School, Miller Art Museum and the Door County Maritime Museum for 25 years, as Assistant Curator, Archivist and Register.
She was a member of Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church for which served as: Sunday school teacher and superintendent, chairperson of Board of Christian Education, chairperson of Worship committee, director of children and youth choirs, lay reader, member of chancel choir. She was also on staff at various church camps and was instrumental in the development and administration of Moravian Camp Mt. Morris. June served on the Wisconsin Council of Churches and district, provincial and inter-provincial Boards of Christian Education and Evangelism of the Moravian Church.
June was a very active member of the community belonging to numerous organizations including: Door County Natural Beauty Council, Miller Art Museum, Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Door County Library, Hospice and Respite Care of Door County, Door County Historical Society, Door County Community Concerts, Retired Persons Travel Club and Premier Club.
June enjoyed sports, nature, travel, music, drama, reading and writing. She was a published song writer and author and especially enjoyed writing stories for children. June loved her Wisconsin sports team and was an avid Packer, Brewer and Badger fan. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, David (Kathy) Larson, Dan (Jennifer) Larson, Jenny (Keith) Runnoe, Mark (Lori) Evenson, Dana (JoAnn) Evenson; nephews and nieces in law, Tom Schultz, Dave Swanson and Holly Evenson; great nieces and nephews, Candice (Ryan), Kristal (Marshall), Rylee (Kyle), Rachelle, Brittany (Josh), Hunter, Elise ( Tyler), Spencer, and Anne-Marie (Brandon); also great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hazel and Delores (Einar); two brothers, Doug (Phyllis) and Glenn (Trudy); two nephews, Trent Evenson and Jim Larson; two nieces, Debbie Schultz and Carla Swanson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, at Forbes Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bayside Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
