Suzanne "Sue" Nelson was lifted from this world by the arms of her loving Savior to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026. She was born in the town of Carlsville on March 24, 1943, to her proud parents, Fred "Fritz" and Doris Kiehnau.
Sue attended the Carlsville Grade School and continued on to Sevastopol High School where she graduated in 1961. She was united in marriage to John Nelson on Oct. 10, 1964, and they were blessed with two children. John preceded her in death on March 1, 2010.
While growing up, Sue assisted her parents in many ways on their family farm, instilling in her a strong work ethic which she leaned on no matter what task she was tackling. Sue began her work career at Felhofer Brothers Garage in Valmy. She took the skills she acquired there and started a 33-year long journey at Door County Memorial Hospital in Spring of 1975. Sue retired from the hospital in 2008 as Information Systems Support Telecom Specialist. Some of her memorable accomplishments were assisting in the implementation of computerizing the entire hospital. When the hospital built the new clinic, Sue put on her hard hat, and using her attention to detail, she walked through the project with the contractor's reviewing plans and specs to ensure proper installation of all the telecom equipment. Sue took great pride in the work she accomplished.
Sue's greatest joy was the time she spent with family and friends. Birthdays, holidays or just an afternoon of family fun. Holidays were a favorite of hers. Whether she was adorning her home with holiday decorations, including her seasonal tree, or planning a holiday dinner, it was always done with an abundance of joy. Her hobbies included meticulously maintaining her lush yard and perennial gardens. Sue was blessed with talent of joyfully singing and used her talent as a member of St. Peter's Choir for over 30 years. She will be remembered for her pleasant and caring personality. Sue was a content person and grateful for her many blessings and always comforting others with her warm smile.
Sue is survived by her children, Julie (Kerry) Dragseth, Sturgeon Bay; Greg and Karen Nelson, Howards Grove; grandchildren, Kendra Krueger, Sturgeon Bay; Kendall Dragseth,
Norfolk, VA; Trevor (Sierra) Nelson, Howards Grove; Braeden Nelson, Oostburg; great grandchildren, Caleb Krueger and Cooper Krueger, Sturgeon Bay; sisters, Becky (Terry) Conlon, Carrie (Doug) Petersilka, all of Sturgeon Bay; brother-in-law David (Dolly) Nelson, Wauwatosa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Ron, in-laws John & Kathleen Nelson, brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Nelson, many aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with entombment in the St. Joseph Mausoleum.
