June Ione Mahlberg gained her wings May 7th 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Mahlberg and son, Steve Mahlberg. She is survived by her 5 children, Shelley Shaw, Patrick Mahlberg, Joe Mahlberg, Mike Mahlberg, and Debra DeMain. June and Bud have several grandchildren and many great children.
June was born in Utica, South Dakota on June 9, 1931. Her brothers were Fay McPherson, Ward McPherson, Archie McPherson and a sister Maxine Burns.
Everyone who knew June knew where they stood with her. She was one of the kindest humans but also held people accountable. Her grandchildren would remember her drawer of wooden spoons and we all knew what those were used for! In her free time, she would love to tend to her garden. Her yard was one of the best kept yards in Coquille, Or. Her quilts were a gift that she would make to celebrate marriages and new babies. Most of her family still have quilts she made for them to this day. Knitting and Crocheting were also a fun hobby of hers. June enjoyed canning all the food they could. She was a great cook and absolutely loved having her family over for holidays and meals. She enjoyed Bandon Beach and would go visit there as often as she could! June enjoyed a good fishing trip with Bud, mostly because she would outfish him and bring home the bigger fish.
Up until the end of her life, June gave her honorary smiles when seeing family. Everyone could see how much her family meant to her. She would talk about them often with her caretakers and nurses.
June will be missed dearly. Her quilts will continue to be used by the families and remembered fondly. She was an absolute joy to know and love.
