June Nichols Obituary

June Murr Nichols was born on May 9, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Lewis Adrian "L.A." Murr and Johnnie Junkin Murr. June passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Sunnyvale, Texas. A proud graduate of W.W. Samuell High School, Class of 1967, June married the love of her life, Tommy Joe Nichols, on September 7, 1967. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children, April Rogers and Roben Nichols.
June had an unmatched devotion to all Dallas sports teams-loyal through every heartbreaking season, always cheering them on with hope and heart. She was also a self-declared shopaholic, never one to pass up a mall, outlet, craft store, or local boutique in search of something she "couldn't live without." June was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas for many years.
Above all, June cherished her role as "Granny." Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds-whether it was all-day movie marathons or cheering them on at racetracks, livestock shows, basketball courts, or baseball and football fields. And when two of her grandchildren became proud Razorbacks, June did too-calling the Hogs with full Arkansas pride: WOO PIG SOOIE!
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Adrian "L.A." Murr; her mother, Johnnie Junkin Murr; her brother, William Adrian "Bill" Murr; her stepmother, Peggy Murr; and step-siblings, Karen Hendley and Greg Walker.
June is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 58 years, Tommy Nichols; her children, April Rogers and Roben Nichols and his wife, Tiffany; her beloved grandchildren, Cody and Hannah Nichols, Cailey Nichols, Tyler and Melanie Rogers, and Tanner Rogers (Renee); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Coy, Lakely, Colt, Caroline, Tommy, and Asher. She is also survived by several siblings, nieces, and nephews.
June was fearfully and wonderfully made who leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, spirited loyalty, and joyful memories that will live on through her family and all who were lucky enough to know her.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Octavia Baptist Church in Octavia, Oklahoma with Brother Ed Rogers officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Octavia Cemetery in Octavia, Oklahoma under the direction of Bowser Family Funeral Home in Mena, Arkansas. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Octavia Baptist Church in Octavia, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Cody Nichols, Tyler Rogers, Tanner Rogers, Ryan Selfridge, Collin Selfridge, Jonathan Selfridge, Matthew Selfridge, and Bradley Johnson.
