June Saball Obituary

Boxford – June Claire (Anderson) Saball passed away on November 10, 2023, ten days before her 91st birthday. She was living with her daughter Linda and husband Mark Johnson, MD, and their daughter Morgan, for the last four years, after suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

June was born in Ashburnham, MA on November 20, 1932, a daughter of the late Stanley Henry Gordon Anderson and Ethel Elizabeth (Stone). She went to the Dolly Whitney Adams Elementary and Middle Schools before continuing her education at Cushing Academy, and graduating from Fitchburg High School in 1951. After graduation she worked for the Anwelt Shoe Company in Fitchburg.

June loved to swim, especially at the town pool in Ashburnham, where she was often the last one out before it closed. This is where she met Frank Saball, whom she would wed at the Justice of the Peace in Ashby on June 30, 1956. June and Frank raised a family of three children and celebrated 45 years of marriage together, before Frank's passing in 2001. For 13 years prior, as Frank's health declined, June was his constant caretaker at his side.

After her children were of school age, June began her career at New England Business, where she held various positions and retired after 23 years. In her spare time, she loved going to the beach, sun tanning, and along with Frank, she loved to go camping and attend fairs. She enjoyed listening to country music, drawing, hiking, and simply going for a walk.

June was a fun person to be around; she always found a way to make you laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a flawless and brilliant smile that lit up every room she was in, and you never knew what fun and witty comment she was going to say next. June was a selfless person, who always put the needs of her family first; June was there when you needed her.

She is survived by her three children, David Saball of Alton Bay, NH; Linda (Saball) Johnson and husband Mark Johnson, MD of Boxford; Michael Saball and wife Sandra (Cudmore) of Ashby; grandchildren, Joshua Saball and partner Marie Richey of Exeter, NH, Nicholas Saball and wife Emily of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Morgan Johnson of Boxford and her partner Robert Swist of Ramond, NH, Rachel Saball of Ashby and her fiancé Brandon Condon and Jacob Saball of Ashby; one great grandchild, Ramone Saball. June is also survived by her sister Frances Boucher of Ashburnham, as well as nieces and nephews, Sherry Anderson Skelton, Debra Testa, Cindy Sadin, Lisa Sisoian, Kenneth Anderson, Tracey Anderson Price, Norrie Anderson Hamby; also her dear close friend Linda Jean Bowen.

June was predeceased by her daughter in law, Marie (LaPlante) Saball of Alton Bay, NH in 2021; brothers Stanley Anderson of Ohio, US Air Force Veteran Kenneth Anderson of Conway, SC, and nephew Craig Anderson.

Calling hours will be held in the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend, on Friday, November 17, from 10:00 – 11:30 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM and burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.

Even though it´s been years since I´ve seen aunt June, my memories of her are filled with laughter. She had the best sense of humor. I hope everyone was able to say goodbye; can take time for their emotions and remember to live their best life.
