June E. (Cox) Severson, 77, of Sparta, WI, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Tomah Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Tomah. June was born June 10, 1947, to Forest and Gertrude (Brueggeman) Cox in Sparta, WI. She and her 10 siblings grew up on the family farm outside of Wilton, WI.
On June 23, 1973, she married her soulmate, Eugene Severson. Together, they embraced the challenges and joys of farming in Big Creek, just outside of Sparta. Their partnership was not only one of love and mutual respect but also a professional venture that saw them both manage the Soft Touch Car Wash and Carriage House Apartments.
Throughout her life, June was the epitome of a multitasker. While raising six children and managing a full-time farming operation, she still found the time and energy to work a variety of jobs. June was a familiar and friendly face at Fort McCoy, where she worked in the travel voucher department until her retirement.
June's heart was always with her family. She loved being a mom above all else and created a home where everyone was welcome, and love was abundant. She took exceptional care of people, not just in her immediate family but also in the wider community that she held so dear.
June is survived by her children, Jennie (Todd) Eitland, Rod (Mary) Severson, Sean (Beth) Severson and Branden (Shiona) Severson; step-daughters, Cindy (Toby) Robertson, and Deanne Rush; grandchildren, Shane, Ryan, Logan (Macky), Henry, Nora, Jaymz, Ryver, and Vynnie Severson, Danielle Walters; great grandchildren, Grayson Walters and Carter Severson; siblings, Inez Davis, Caroline Nelson, Lila (Steve) Nofsinger and Forrest (Connie) Cox; step-grandchildren, Heather Wright, and Brenna Rush; brother-in-law, Steve Nofsinger; sisters-in-law Elsie Smikrud and Betty Cox; along with more grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends who thought of June as a mom and grandma too.
June was preceded in death by her parents Forest and Gertrude Cox; her husband Eugene; siblings, Edith (Harold) Cox, Eugene (Faye) Cox, Beatrice (Dick) Will, Beaulah (Richard) Raiten, Carl Cox, and Vera Lee; brothers-in-law, Ned Davis and Carl Nelson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Torkelson Funeral Home, 1132 Angelo Road, Sparta. Pastor Bob Streeter will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Funeral Home. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery will be held Friday, November 15, 2024, 11:00 a.m.
