June Elaine Goodell Sohn Butterfield, 89, passed away September 6, 2024, at Autumn Care in Hyde Park, Utah where she has been living since August 2023.
June was born to Glenn Oran and Bessie Leone (Snow) Goodell in Ocheyden, Iowa on December 20, 1934. June completed the family of nine children.
June grew up on the family farm near Lake Park, Iowa and she went to school and then graduated from Excelsior High School in 1952. She worked at Berkley Fishing in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
June married Carl Sohn Jr. on April 17, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Lake Park, Iowa. Their first home was in Round Lake, MN. Their daughter Vicki Lynn was born in March 1956. June and Carl moved to Fullerton, California. David Wayne was born in April 1957. They bought their first home in Stanton, California and Barry Carl was born in June 1959.
June and Carl and the children moved to Clifton, Idaho in 1968 where they bought a dairy farm. Carl passed away in March 1990. June went to work at the Franklin County Hospital (in the kitchen).
June married Jack Butterfield in 1993 and she moved to Preston, Idaho. They retired and traveled. Jack passed away in March 2010 and June continued to live in Preston until she moved to Autumn Care in 2023.
June is survived by her daughter Vicki Martin (Scott), daughter-in-law Denise Sohn (Wayne Shell) and sister Joyce Monier, Leon Goodell (Gladys), in-laws Betty Goodell, Chuck Buchman, Barb Sohn, grandchildren Holly Nielson (Ben), Jennifer Rossier (Jeremy), David Hobbs, Leslie Lieshman, Holly Andrade (Jorge), Joshua Asberry, Nicki Wilhelm (Alex), 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, Jack’s children Scott Butterfield (Jana Lee), Toni Harper (Tracy), Mike Butterfield and Jeanie Butterfield.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl Sohn Jr., husband Jack Butterfield, sons, David Sohn, Barry Sohn, grandsons, Matt Martin, Brooks Martin, Blake Sohn, siblings Oran Goodell (Lavonne), Olive Mills (Lawrence), Clayton Goodsell (Eloise), Don Goodell, Betty Buchman (Chuck), Jack Goodell, in-laws Dayton Monier, Richard Sohn, Donna Goodell.
Our family would like to express appreciation to: Autumn Care and staff, Aegis home and hospice, Preston Presbyterian Church, Logan Alpine Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E., Preston, Idaho. Burial will be in the Clifton, Idaho Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
