June (Chappell) Summers was born to her parents, Charlie and Lucy Chappell on June 12, 1924 in Halfway, Missouri and went to her heavenly home on May 26, 2024.
June is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Gale Summers; brothers and sisters, Alma Griffin, Con Chappell, Shirl Chappell, Chester Chappell, Jewel Hale, Bud Chappell, Ray Chappell; and sisters-in-law, Theresa Chappell and Jesse Chappell.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Connie) Thuston; grandsons, Eric (Tess) Thuston and Sean Thuston; brother, Charles Chappell; sister-in-law, Barbara Chappell; and special nieces and nephews, Roger Chappell, Stan Chappell, Rand Chappell, Nan Chappell, and Leola Smith.
June graduated from Halfway High School where she was active in sports and a four-year varsity starter in basketball and softball. Later in life June was an accomplished bowler.
She attended a two-year business school in Cleveland, Ohio, then moved back to Missouri where she worked in accounting for 30 years.
She was a long-time member of South Haven Baptist Church where she was active in Children's Ministries, teaching Sunday School, New Christians classes, and Marketplace.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Waterford, Compassus Hospice and Cox South 700 West Oncology area for their kindness and compassion with Mom.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to South Haven Baptist Church marked "For Children's Ministry".
Visitation will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, MO.
Her care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
