June Marie Higby Tatters, born on June 7, 1948, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie on January 7, 2025. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose warmth and spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. June was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Emma Stauffer Higby, her sister Rose Marie Ross, and her devoted husband Raymond John Tatters Sr., with whom she shared many joyful years filled with love and adventure. Together they created a beautiful family that will carry forward their legacy of kindness and resilience. She is survived by her brother Archie Higby, brother-in-law Alan Ross, and her three cherished children: Judith Marie (Gerard Maille), Ray Tatters Jr., and Aleshia Marie (Brent Oskin). June's heart swelled with pride for each of them as they grew into remarkable individuals. Her grandchildren-Harry Leo Blair Jr., Tiffany Marie Blair, Gerard Wyatt Maille, Emilee Marie Maille, Brianna Marie Proudfoot, Linsey Clara Louise Gallegor, Alaina Rae Gallegor, and Meadow Camrie Gallegor-were the light of her life. Each moment spent with them brought joy to her days; she delighted in watching them grow up while sharing stories from her own childhood and life. As a great-grandmother to Maddox Samuel Hays, Gracelyn Blair, and Oaklynn Blair, June embraced this new role with open arms. The laughter of little ones delighted her -a testament to the loving family environment she nurtured throughout the years. June had an adventurous spirit that shone brightly through every aspect of her life. She loved riding motorcycles alongside Raymond for many years; those rides were not just about speed but rather moments where freedom met companionship under vast skies. In quieter times at home her lap and end tables would be adorned with yarns from countless crocheting projects completed over decades-she found solace creating warm blankets infused with love for those dear to her heart. In addition to these passions that defined much of who she was as a person-playing games on her phone became another favorite pastime allowing connections across distances while keeping sharp wit alive even amidst changing times! Though our hearts ache at losing the family matriarch much too soon-the memories we hold close remind us daily how blessed we are having known someone so genuine, caring, and God loving!
