JUNIOR LEWIS “NIP� DUNCAN Junior Lewis “Nip� Duncan, born February 19, 1923 in Eccles, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 26, 2010 at his home in Midway surrounded by his wife and loving family. He spent 30 years in the coal mines and the last 22 years working at Slab Fork Coal Company. He was a former member of the Open Door Church in Shady Spring, WV , Brodgen United Methodist church, Dudley, NC after returning from Goldsboro, NC; where he resided for five years; returning home he was a current member of the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in MacArthur, WV. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Duncan; mother, Rettie Bare Duncan; five brothers, Carl, Jirney, James, Fred, and Robert; two sisters, Drucie and Birdie; and two great-grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Norma Duncan; ten children, Phyllis McNew and husband, Robert of Mabscott, Randy Duncan and wife, Kay of Beckley, Roger Duncan and wife, Sherry of Sophia, Ronnie Duncan and wife, Rita of Coal City, Bonnie Rakes and companion, Steve Bennett of Pax, Raymond Duncan and companion, Sam Farley of Midway, Kent Sullivan and wife, Irene of Daniels, Cheryl Allen and husband Roy of Sophia, Alice Morgan and husband, Gary of Mt. Olive, NC and Melanie Sallie and husband, Ralph of Sophia; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two nephews which he raised, Frankie whom is now deceased, and Johnny both of Crab Orchard. Services will be 1:00PM Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 101 1st Street Sophia with Rev. Terry Hatcher, George Smith and Bill Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley. Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia. The family would like to thank Hospice of Southern West Virginia, Dr. Porterfield, and the nurses on the 4th floor at BARH for their care and kindness.
