Funeral services for Junior Severs will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the High Spring Baptist Church in Okemah, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the High Spring Church Cemetery.
Junior Severs was born February 25, 1947 in Old Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Jim Severs and Ella (Harjo) Severs. He passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 in Oklahoma City at the age of 78.Junior Severs was a lifelong resident of the Okemah area and a graduate of Bearden High School. He also received an associates degree in mechanics at OSU IT in Okmulgee. Junior and Lizzie (Chotkey) Severs were married June 3, 1966. Junior worked in the oilfields and as a mechanic. He was baptized at High Spring Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on cars and played baseball and basketball when he was younger. Junior loved to watch his kids and grandkids play ball and loved his family more than anything else. He also proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rachel Severs; one son, Robert Severs; one brother, John Severs; one grandson, Darren Newton; and one granddaughter, Donnita Severs.
He is survived by two daughters, Augustine Severs of Okemah, Oklahoma; Nancy Severs, of Okemah, Oklahoma; one sister, Mary Lee Severs of Okemah, Oklahoma; twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers are Chauncey Severs, Terrel Wright, Taylor Deer, Seth Newton, Cameron Severs, and Kirby Green.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Stoney Newton, Ramsey Butler, Simeon Lee, Tommy Frank Jr, Billy Chotkey, Charles Butler Jr, and Lincoln Newton Jr.
Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma and officiated by Rev. Jesse Wind.
