Obituary
Junior Clyde Swartzell, 84, of Royal Center, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Woodbridge Health Campus in Logansport.
Born on February 16, 1939, in Royal Center, Junior is the son of the late Clyde and Flora (Abbott) Swartzell. On July 3, 1960, in Logansport, Junior married Sandra Sue Wray who survives.
Junior was a 1958 graduate of Royal Center High School, and a barber in his hometown for 61 years. He had also worked in the Pioneer School System for 35 years as a custodian and bus driver. Junior was a member of the Lions Club, the Royal Center Town Board and past President of Youth League Baseball.
Surviving along with his wife, Sandra, are four sons, Gary C. (Sonia Lara) Swartzell; Michael S. (Deborah) Swartzell; both of Logansport; Brad (Tricia) Swartzell; and Brian (Rashel) Swartzell both of Royal Center; eight grandchildren, Beth (Nick) Gish of Deer Creek; Dustin (Heather) Swartzell of Noblesville; Kayla Swartzell of Noblesville; Owen Swartzell of Dallas, TX; Chandler (Rachel) Swartzell of Danville, IN; Courtney Swartzell of Noblesville; Laci Swartzell of Royal Center; Carson Swartzell of Royal Center; six great grandchildren, Emma Lewis, Kirsten Gish, Kylee Gish, Madison Swartzell, Jackson Swartzell and Cora Swartzell.
Junior was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Marion, Ralph, Everett, Howard and Jim Swartzell.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 7, 2023, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Sharp officiating. Burial will take place in the Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.
Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Sunday.
