Ms. Avery leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Andre (Melinda) Fowler; grandchildren, Amir Fowler and Mia Black; sister, Betty G. Brown; nieces and nephews, Mark (Tova) Byrd, Janice (Carl) Rice, Lisa (Tony) Minus, Michelle Hawkins, Marshalynn (Jack) Odneal, Karmen Byrd and Carlos Fowler; and a host of other relatives.
Ms. Avery was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Mamie Fowler; and siblings, Charles Fowler and Churley Moore.
