Justin “Henry” Wade Hendrickson, 48, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away Monday, September 8, 2025.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Pastor Jeff Fitzkappes officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo, with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Justin, known to many as “Henry,” was born on February 16, 1977, in Mankato to Noel and Laura Hendrickson. He was dedicated at the Worthington Church of the Brethren by Pastor Jerome Schuster on November 6, 1977, in Reading, Minnesota. Justin grew up in Montevideo, where he loved life on the farm and working in the fields with his dad and great-uncle John.

From a young age, Justin developed a passion for sports. He excelled in baseball, basketball, and football, earning varsity letters in all three sports before graduating from Montevideo High School in 1995. He went on to attend Vermilion Community College in Ely and Ridgewater Community College in Willmar, where he studied accounting. At age 20, he returned to the family farm where he had spent many childhood days with his brother Ben and great-uncle John.

Justin lived a simple life, but he was anything but ordinary. Over the years he worked in the fields, painted, screen printed at Jim’s Clothing in Dawson, refereed basketball and baseball games, bartended, worked at Cenex, and coached. In his spare time, he played on countless softball teams and cherished the friendships and connections he made everywhere he went.

In 2007, Justin and Kari Kirking welcomed their son Jaden, who became the greatest joy of his life. For the past 18 years, Justin devoted himself to being a proud dad, spending countless hours supporting Jaden in sports, especially baseball, which he loved to watch and coach as well as scholastically.

Justin had a gift for making everyone feel valued. When he spoke with you, you felt like the most important person in the world. His bright smile and infectious laugh lit up every room he entered. And if you ever needed to know a sports statistic—or the alma mater of any NBA player—Justin was your go-to guy.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His presence leaves a space that cannot be filled until we are together again. We find comfort in knowing he is at peace, and we imagine him enjoying his “next inning.”

Justin is survived by his son, Jaden; parents Noel and Laura Hendrickson; siblings, Amber (Michael) Mihajlov and their children Skyler, Madison, Alexis, Ashton and Olivia, Ben (Ranae) Hendrickson and their children, Bentley and Stella, and Lee Hendrickson (Will Hampton) and their daughter Link; special friend, Amanda Baird and her children, Caitlyn, Kamden and Bryar; aunts and uncles, Michael (Joan) Hendrickson, Mary Jo Hendrickson, Norm (Barb) Hendrickson, Estelle (Tom) Hansen, Colleen Cordes, Paula (Keven) Jensen, Marsha Drake, James Drake, Sue Drake, Buck (Candi) Roetman, Colin (Char) Roetman, and Brett (Mary) Roetman; his beloved dog, Snoop; as well as cousins, numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Herbert and Esther Hendrickson, Donald Drake, and Ry and Shirley Roetman; uncles David Hendrickson, Merlyn Cordes, Ken Staat, and Gary Drake; and very close great uncle John C Oddan.

A memorial fund has been established at the Co-op Credit Union in Montevideo to help with funeral expenses, medical bills, and support for Jaden as he continues his college education. Contributions may be made directly at the credit union or through Venmo at @Henrymemorialfund.
