Justin Paul Johnson, born on December 16, 1970, in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on January 13, 2025 at the age of 54. He was a cherished member of the George West and Beeville community, a devoted family man, and a dedicated educator, leaving behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
Justin was the beloved son of Larry Wayne Johnson and Winnie Bess Benkendorfer Johnson and was a 1989 graduate of George West High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and was a science teacher, math teacher, and coach at R.A. Hall Elementary School in Beeville where he guided and inspired many students throughout his career. Justin was committed to fostering a love for learning in his students. His approach to education was characterized by patience, creativity and a genuine belief in the potential of every child. He was not only passionate about teaching but also loved working cattle, pulling pranks, cooking, and driving tractors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Wayne Johnson.
Left behind to cherish fond memories are his daughters, Lauren Boedeker and Vicky Tijerina; his mother, Winnie Bess Benkendorfer Johnson; his sister, Jennifer Turner; his brother-in-law, Chris Turner; three nephews, Cayden, Tate, and Tucker Turner; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in honor of Justin on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with Pastor Jim Harris officiating. The service will begin at 10 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude at noon. The family requests you bring funny stories and memories to share. This gathering will provide family, friends, and all whose lives he touched an opportunity to honor his memory and celebrate the impact he made as a son, brother, uncle, educator, friend and father.
