Obituary of Justin C. Pergolizzi

Irondequoit native, Justin Charles Pergolizzi, 40, passed away in the Dominican Republic on Thursday, July 24th. A graduate of Irondequoit high school. Justin joined the Marines in 2005, and was stationed at 8th and I, selected for Honor Guard duty in Washington D.C. In 2008, he deployed to Iraq with the first Marine's LAV unit.

As a civilian, Justin attended Monroe Community College, the University of Nazareth in the history department, and was accepted into the University of Albany's PhD program for Latin American history studies. Justin moved to Santo Domingo in 2018 to pursue his PhD while enjoying island life. An animal lover, Justin adopted local cats and horses. He developed a horse tour business so that others could also enjoy the natural beauty of the Caribbean.

He is survived by his parents, Tony and Rosemary Pergolizzi; siblings, Tony Pergolizzi III and Alexandra Pergolizzi; niece and nephews, Leah and Maxwell Pergolizzi and Luca Anthony Serfine; and many family members and friends in the United States and in the Dominican Republic.

Friends and family will be invited to a church service to honor Justin's life along with interment ceremony at Irondequoit Cemetery, and a reception at the Family Center at Harris Funeral Home at a later date. Justin will also be memorialized in the Arlington National Cemetery where he once served.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating time and/or money to the Veterans Outreach Center in Justin's name.
