Weddle Funeral Service - StaytonWith heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Justin Ray Spier, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose vibrant spirit and deep love for family and the outdoors touched all who knew him. He passed away on September 17, 2025.
Born on May 19, 1979, in Salem, Oregon, to Vicki and Don Spier, Justin spent his formative years in the close-knit community of Detroit, Oregon. He attended Detroit Elementary School and graduated from Santiam High School, where he forged lifelong friendships and developed the strong work ethic and generous heart that would define his life.
Justin built a career rooted in dedication and craftsmanship, working with pride at Les Schwab Tires and later at Hunter Engineering. His colleagues knew him as reliable, hardworking, and always ready with a smile or a helping hand.
On September 10, 2005, Justin married the love of his life, Abbie Drake, in Mill City, Oregon. Together they built a home filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering love. Justin was a devoted father to Kennedy and Reagan, cherishing every moment spent with them—from family road trips to quiet evenings at home. His role as a dad was one he embraced with joy and purpose.
Justin’s passions reflected his deep connection to nature. He found peace and exhilaration in hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, and boating. He especially loved trips to the coast and traveling with his family, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife, Abbie Spier; his children, Kennedy and Reagan Spier; parents, Vicki and Don Spier, his siblings, Shawn Spier and Cristina Heydon; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, September 26, 2025. A Celebration of Life will follow on October 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Detroit Community Gym, where stories will be shared, tears shed, and Justin’s remarkable life honored.
