Jeanne Elizabeth Devine, a remarkable soul, was born on August 28, 1944, in Lebanon, Oregon. She peacefully passed away on March 25, 2024, in Salem, Oregon. Her life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and creativity.
Jeanne was the cherished daughter of Mildred Mercer and Rex Britton. She embarked on her journey of learning at Santiam High School and later attended Oregon Business College in Portland. Her thirst for knowledge and determination shaped her path.
Jeanne and Wayne Alan Devine exchanged vows on March 19, 1962. Their union was a testament to enduring love. For over five decades, they called Turner, Oregon, home, tending to their beloved farm. Jeanne's hands were never idle; she masterfully painted, sewed, decorated cakes, laid tiles, wallpapered, gardened, canned, upholstered furniture, and baked the most heavenly pies.
Jeanne's entrepreneurial spirit led her to reenter the workforce in her 50s. She taught herself how to use computers and joined Oregon State Lands, where she would later retire. But her heart belonged to her community. Jeanne was a beacon-a community leader who volunteered tirelessly for various events. She believed in empowering women, and the home interior and crafts store she created proved just that. Not only was it a place to shop, but also a place for women to gather, teach classes, and learn from one another
Jeanne's ability to learn and adapt was awe-inspiring. She was a businesswoman, an artist, and a nurturer. Her children, Deborah Turner, Brad Devine, and Danielle Devine, carry her spirit forward. Grandchildren Bailey Devine, Athena Turner, Limerick Turner, Ivan Primbs, and Kira Primbs will forever cherish her memory. Jeanne's great-grandson, David Allen, will grow up hearing tales of her resilience and kindness. Her brother, Rex Britton Jr., shares both her memories and her grief.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne, and her sister, Joanne. Their spirits now dance together among the stars.
May Jeanne's legacy continue to inspire us all. She taught us that life is a canvas, and we hold the brush. Let us paint it with love, compassion, and the joyous spirit that defined her remarkable journey.
