Justus Yerger Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gebhart Funeral Home - Claymont on Nov. 25, 2025.
Justus Christian Yerger III died suddenly, aged 56, in Arkansas while working. Gone to God, Christian went peacefully on November 3, 2025.
Known to all as "Chris or Christian", he came into this world on September 6, 1969. Chris was the eldest of three brothers, Michael Joseph and Matthew Robert (deceased), born to Justus Christian Yerger, Jr. and Diane (Wrzesniewski) Yerger. Christian is survived by his mother, Diane, brother, Mike, his beloved sister-in-law, Melody, niece, Jordyn, nephew, Jason and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Christian was born in Chester, PA and raised in New Castle, DE. He attended St. Peter's Catholic School and Salesianum High School. Upon graduating in 1987, Chris went on to attend ATC (Automotive Training Center) in Exton, PA. Chris later moved to Florida, where he attended Sarasota Vo-tech. He graduated as a certified auto-technician, a career he stayed in for 20 years. Christian also briefly lived in Rhode Island, while there he taught a BMW auto program at the University of Massachusetts. Chris had a gift for teaching, excelling at breaking down complex information into simpler terminology to better educate his students, especially his mother.
Chris lived for the journey and loved getting to travel with his final career as a long-haul driver, working for Knight Trucking and Crete Carrier Corp. Christian loved trucking and viewed it as a never-ending road trip.
Chris had a voice and personality that were larger than life. He was known by all who met him as being a great story-teller with a dry sense of humor and a laugh that you had to love. He loved to cook and bake, especially trying new keto recipes. He also enjoyed wood-working, maritime activities and most of all the yearly card games with his family.
If you knew Chris, you knew he was a dreamer, that is what will be missed most. He most recently dreamed of buying a boat and starting a fishing charter and also getting a RV and showing his mother all the sights he's seen across the country. The only thing bigger than his dreams was his heart, Christian is loved and will be missed deeply by his loved ones!!
A Visitation will be held Friday, November 28, 2025 from 10:30am to 11:30am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am. Christian has been cremated and will be laid to rest at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Cemetery in New Castle, DE with his father and his brother, Matthew.
