Graveside services for JW Scribner, 83, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood with Minister John Rackley officiating. Services are under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point. He passed away Sunday morning, November 9, 2014, in Athens. JW was born September 21, 1931, in Melissa, Texas, the son of Jim W. Scribner and Jessie M. Davis Scribner. He was raised in Melissa and graduated from Boyd High School in McKinney. He later graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton. JW was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. On August 30, 1958, he married Darline Campbell in Dallas. JW had been in the grocery business most of his life. He was currently owner/operator of J's Food Mart in Edgewood for the past twenty-three years. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He lived in Dallas prior to moving to Edgewood twenty-three years ago. JW was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Jessie Scribner; wife, Darline Scribner on February 12, 2008; brother, LeLand Scribner; three sisters, Mary Emily Bryant, Blanche Ward and Laura Mildred Scribner. JW is survived by a son, James Scribner & wife, Beth, of Jacksonville, Florida; three daughters, June Curry & husband, Mike, of Henderson, Donna Rivers & husband, Chris, of Edgewood and Carla Rackley & husband, John, of Edgewood; brother, Jack Scribner & wife, Mary Jane, of Farmers Branch; brother-in-law, LeRoy Campbell, of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren, Matthew Curry, John Curry, Melissa Hutchins, Charles Burns, Travis Rivers, Hunter Rivers, Madeline Scribner, Emma Scribner and Clair Scribner; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. We would like to offer thanks to Canton Oaks of Canton and ETMC in Athens for their special care of our dad.
