The Life Journey of J.W. Wright, Jr.
J.W. Wright, Jr. was born on January 20, 1969, in Beaumont, Texas to J.W. Wright, Sr. and Diana Charles Wright. He served in the U.S. Army briefly but was released with an honorable medical discharge in the same year. After returning home, he worked as a home builder with Guillory Construction Company. Later, he graduated with an associate degree in criminal justice from Kaplan University and became self-employed, doing contractor work for several companies in Texas. In addition, he was a Licensed Bodyguard, Level IV commissioned officer, and Reserved Deputy Marshal in Jeanerette, Louisiana.
Jay was warm and affectionate, a beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle, and cousin. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help others. He cherished his family and friends the most, and his warm memories will always remain in their hearts. Jay was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandmother, maternal grandparents, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
On Saturday, September 30, 2023, Jay passed away at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Wright; his mother, Diana Charles-Wright; sisters, Renee Lee-Keller, Senna Wright Holloman, and Josette McCowan; brothers, Joey Pierre Sr., Jody Pierre, Sr., and Joseph Kirkendoll; daughters, Alexia Wright, Ra’Nell Lee, and Simran Wright; sons J.W. Wright, III, Jeevan Wright, Travon Alexander, and Dylon Gums; granddaughters, Nani ya Hailu, Hana Hailu, Noell Hailu, Brooklyn Wright and Luna Gasque; grandsons, Cullin Tantum Furr, Henok Hailu, Jr., and Jaydin Wright; nieces, Jaquitha Wright, Avi McCowan, Nina Pierre, Tiana Pierre, Ariana Pierre, and Journgi Kirkendoll; nephews, Jermey Wayne Lee, LaChoty Wright, Robert Keller, III, Shelomoh Wright, RayCoby-Jamal Selman, Abiyda Hardin, Joey Pierre, Jr., Jody Pierre, Jr., Jayce Pierre, LaJonte Kirkendoll, Josiah Kirkendoll, Alex Pickett and Jgi’Lyn Pickett; honorable childhood friends, Richard Moore and Reginald Eaglin; godson, Kevin Stoner, loving close-knit uncle, Norman Fontenot; and aunts, Teresa Wilson, Charlene Edwards, Willie Harris, and Agnes Stoner. He also leaves behind a village of family and friends who will always cherish his warm memories.
