In Loving Memory of Kara Jo Anderson Nevin

We celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman - a loving mom, nana, sister, friend, faithful Christian, and inspiring teacher. Kara poured her heart into caring for her family, her students, and everyone blessed enough to know her. Her kindness knew no limits, and her love reflected the grace of God in everything she did.

Born in Lubbock, Texas, on July 26, 1943, to Edmond and Helen Anderson, she grew up surrounded by faith, family, and music. After graduating from Shallowater High School, she attended Texas Tech University, majoring in Music and Math - two of her greatest passions. She later earned her Master's in Organ Music from the University of New Mexico.

Kara moved to Albuquerque in 1965 and spent 34 years teaching math in the Albuquerque Public Schools. She shared more than lessons in numbers - she taught patience, compassion, and faith. Her gentle spirit and unwavering belief in others touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith.

Her love for music was a true reflection of her soul. Whether she was playing the organ at church or the piano at home, her music brought peace and joy to all who heard it. We still feel her presence whenever we hear those familiar notes, knowing how deeply music spoke to her heart.

After retiring, her greatest joy came from watching her grandsons grow up. She loved cheering them on, sharing in their milestones, and seeing each of them discover their own passions. She also spent countless peaceful hours sewing, quilting, and crocheting blankets - creating beautiful works of love and comfort that her family will treasure forever.

Though our hearts ache at her passing, we find comfort knowing she's now resting in the arms of her Savior. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, and her light will continue to shine through everyone she inspired.

Preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Helen Anderson, sister Jane, and brother-in-laws Larry Woirhaye and Bob Geick.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen Geick and Alexis Anderson; her children, Thomas Nevin and his wife Tifani Nevin, and Mary Burns and her husband Michael Burns; and her beloved grandsons, Bryan Burns, Joshua Burns and his wife Sydney Burns, Zander Nevin, and Braden Nevin.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
