Kara Welsh, 21, a lifelong resident of Plainfield, IL, passed away on August 31, 2024, in Whitewater, WI. She was born on December 26, 2002, in Hinsdale, IL, to Thomas and Nancy (nee Ferrallo) Welsh. Kara leaves behind her loving parents, her adoring sister Kaeli, and devoted grandparent Therese. She is also survived by her teammates, friends, and many extended family members. The Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12th, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Overman Jones Funeral Home, 15219 Joliet Rd, Plainfield, IL 60544. The Mass will be on Friday, September 13th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Church. Interment will be at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery in Plainfield IL.

I did not know Kara, but I am a fellow mom of a UWW student. There are no words that I, or anyone, can provide to ease the pain of such a tremendous loss. Just know there are strangers grieving with you & keeping your family in our prayers.

I did not know Kara, but I have lived in Whitewater for 60 years. I worked at the University years ago. I always look forward to the students return and enjoy watching their sports. Kara's death is tragic and am sending my condolences to the family. God bless.

My heart melts with emotions for Welsh family. I am Pleased to have been introduced to Kara the day that at gymnastics practice she casually did a back tuck off of the trampoline bed and pinned my daughter (G) down to the ground with her flipping body. I couldn't believe the news, but after getting to know how much joy and a free spirit Kara embodied, I'm not surprised. G is ever grateful to have stood next to Kara through the years. We love her in so many ways!
