Kareem "Ken" Kenyata Hayes, age 49 of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Gwinnett County went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Kareem is preceded in death by his mother, Debra Ruth Hayes Bell and grandmother, Margie Mae Hayes. He is survived by his sister, Brandy (Bell) Brewster; grandfather, Ernest Hayes; aunts, Shirley (Tony) Hayes Briggs, Margaret (Rick) A. Vann, Thelma (Denrick) Lanclos and Gwendolyn (Leonard) L. Motley; one uncle, Richard Hayes; nephews, Rafael J. Brewster Jr., Jiovonni M. Brewster and Marcello J. Brewster; cousins, Jeremy Garrett, Johnthan Garrett, Jacob Motley, Linda Hayes and Michael Hayes, and best friend, Sonny Scrudder, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Kareem was born on January 23, 1976, Gwinnett County. He attended the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and graduated from Berkmar High School. He was a current employee at the CDC, Center for Disease Control, Atlanta, Georgia. He was a devoted employee with many years of service. At an early age, Kareem joined Anniston Baptist Church, where he was regularly active in the Deaf Ministry of Arts. His favorite past times were watching and going to see movies, eating and delivering pizza, taking trips to the beach, and cheering for and watching his beloved Georgia Bulldogs.
The Celebration of Life service for Kareem "Ken" Hayes will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 1:00PM at Tom Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 11:00AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
