Karen Breniser Obituary

Published by Legacy on May 6, 2025.
Karen Annette Breniser, 76, passed away on April 23, 2025 in Friendswood, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 19, 1948 in Ligonier, Pennsylvania to John W. Breniser Jr. and Helen Shotzbarger. She is survived by her sisters Donna James (John) and Marsha Breniser; niece Laura O'Dowd (Ryan); nephew Austen James (Kelsey); Derek O'Dowd, Brooklyn O'Dowd, Kinsley O'Dowd, Weston James, Jonathon James, and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her nephew Alex James.
Karen graduated from Ligonier Valley High School in 1967, the University of Pittsburg with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1979, and Simmons College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1995. She was a registered nurse for many years in Massachusetts and Texas. She has a passion for her family, young and old, especially any history related to her family. She enjoyed reading and would sometimes read a book nonstop from the first word to the last. When she was able, she loved to travel. She looked forward to Blood Pressure Sundays so she could help take the blood pressures for the church members.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 16335 El Camino Real, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Karen's memory may do so to The Clear Lake United Methodist Church for the Community Hub.

Karen went with a small group on my 60th birthday cruise. She had just been diagnosed with cancer. She had surgery scheduled immediately on return. Karen was not afraid. I contributed her confidence to years of nursing experience. But, I am sure her was her belief in Christ. God bless you my friend. Susan Lindsey, Single Navigators
