Karen Sue Childress, of Cuba, Missouri, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 78. Born on June 7, 1947, in Sullivan, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of Herman S. and Irma J. (George) McMillian.
Karen dedicated her career to nursing, serving as a Registered Nurse with unwavering commitment at the Meramec Home Health and Life Care Center in Sullivan, where she touched countless lives. In her personal time, she found joy in sewing, cooking, and her favorite pastime, cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. Her greatest delight, however, was the time spent with her family, especially her beloved nieces, nephews, and their children.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Leroy, Mack, Joel and Larry McMillian, Carol Williams.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, remembered fondly by her three sisters, Pam Richardson of Cuba, Kathy Hayes of Cuba, and Joann Busse of St. Clair, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cherished friends.
In accordance with her wishes, Karen will be cremated, and inurnment will be held at the McMillian Family Cemetery at a later date.
The Mizell Funeral & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Karen S. Childress. Her spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
